Mission Statement

Our Whenuakite child will be a confident, connected, actively involved, life long learner.

Kia Ora, Welcome to Whenuakite School

We are a primary school catering to boys and girls from years 1 through 8, situated 15km North of Tairua and 25 km South of Whitianga. We are in a delightful rural setting, just five minutes’ drive from Hot Water Beach, and ten minutes from Hahei and Cooks Beach.

Our school has a friendly, family feel, and we always have a lot going on.  We have amazing children who are keen to learn, an excellent team of staff who go the extra mile, and a supportive, active Board of Trustees and community.  We appreciate, and value, the importance of the partnership between home and school, and we work hard to create real opportunities for parents to become involved in the activities of the school and to create strong links with the community.

Our school prides itself on providing quality teaching and learning within a positive, safe and happy school environment. We encourage children to make the most of their opportunities, to get along with others, to have goals, to be resilient and to enjoy the challenges of learning new things.

Our goal for children at Whenuakite School is for them to be polite, successful, active children who enjoy school life. Whenuakite children take pride in their school and they look out for each other.

Our skilled staff are hard working and committed to providing the best learning opportunities that they can for all children. We have a strong focus on Literacy and Numeracy as well as a rich, balanced coverage of the Arts, Health and P.E., and the topic areas.

Whenuakite School has a long legacy of strong, generous support from parents, caregivers and the community. We value this and we are committed to working closely with parents and families for the best possible outcomes for children.

We offer a wide range of extra- curricula opportunities for children and we work closely with other schools on the Peninsula to ensure children have opportunities to join in an exciting variety of cultural and sporting activities.

We are thankful for so much at our school and we are determined to do all we can to continue to improve and develop our programmes and resources. We are proud that our school is a treasured resource in our community and that our children leave here very well equipped to continue their journey as lifelong learners.

For further information about the school, our learning programmes or what we can offer, feel free to contact me at school. I will be very happy to show you and your family around.
